Joe started his career at American Express International Banking Corp. in New York and later spent 3 years in Singapore doing corporate and correspondent banking in the ASEAN countries. He later worked at Maryland National Bank and First City, Houston N.A. where he eventually became senior vice president for the Asia Pacific Department with responsibility for rep. offices in Tokyo and Hong Kong as well as a branch in Singapore.

Joe left banking to work in the Trade and Structured Finance group at Cargill Financial Services International, Inc where he was in charge of global distribution of structured trade finance assets. After Cargill,  Joe and colleagues started Global Trade Resources, LLC which was eventually acquired  by Archer Daniels Midland Co. He subsequently became an independent trade finance consultant with clients in Chile,  Singapore and the US.

Joe, now semi retired, stays active in trade finance with ATFA. He resides in Minneapolis with his wife Jan.
